Decent place to come for seafood in the area. We were staying around the area and came for dinner. It was a cold and foggy night and there were not many customers here. We got the 3 lobsters with 2 sides special and the shrimp dinner with 2 sides and another order of the fried oysters. Price wasn't cheap I got to say but I guess we were in a seafood place. And we would probably have paid more if we were at a Lobsters was very fresh. The shrimps were fried nicely. The fried oysters were a bit pricy for the amount of food. For almost 19 dollars, I expected more oysters but the portion was kind of small. It tasted fresh and good. The sides we got were the cold slaw, potato salad, and the onion rings. Everything tasted fresh and good but nothing was really amazing. This is a order your own and find your own sit place. They serve cocktails and beers too. The place had a outdoor, first and second floor seating areas. Since it was cold and foggy, we opted to sit on the second floor and they had doors that kept the place warm. People working there were very friendly. Overall this is a decent place to come in the area. But I've definitely had better

Well you can't really beat the view. There's a lobster tank right out front and you sit at a picnic table on the water to crack open a whole lobster. And when you're done there's an ice cream stand for dessert. Pretty neat place, token Maine!

@ 20 bucks a pop you can't beat the portions. (they deserved a pic) Atmosphere was amazing adding to the experience w./ boats coming and going, service awesome all around splendid time 5's

Ive been here many times and the jumbo lobster roll is the reason why I keep coming back? I get mine without mayonnaise....Ive never asked but Im guessing its made with at least one if not one and a half pounds of lobster meat? Ive had other things off the menu but overall things are done plain and simple......ocean to table - no chefs needed here

Clam chowder was very good...I like it on the thin side, so this one is great to me. It's straight up chowder...no fancy ingredients...which is how it should be in my book, with the possible exception of a little smokey bacon. Lobster roll...well the lobster was delish, but it's way, way more lobster meat than I found comfortable to eat. No wonder they are more expensive than the average restaurant. None of us could eat all the meat and ended up putting an appropriate amount on the bun and taking the rest home.

Great place for fresh lobster. Buy them or ship them live or eat them here freshly steamed with drawn butter. Lots of other food drinks and sides and ice cream too.

Lobster roll ok, fried clams ok, fried shrimp nothing special. Clam and fish chowders nothing special. Some friendly staff, some indifferent- if you are not a local. Not bad, but one visit is enough for me.

Excellent jumbo lobster roll .... too big to finish but that just made my wife & daughter happier. Their haddock, & scallop roll, & chowdah were good too. But jumbo lobster roll ... yum. Before it arrived, the wife said "$28 for a lobster roll!!" but afterward .... she saw the light. Nom nom nom.

I love the environment here! The open concept is great and the view is nice. There is music playing all the time, something I appreciate. Outside ordering and limited inside seating. The main reason I came to this joint was to test its lobster roll against that of its neighboring joint the Lobster Dock. What I have found is that though this place gives a more welcoming portion of lobster, it is too chewy for my taste. Honestly the lobster roll stinks in my perspective. Yet being surrounded by this place's lobster cages, you know it's fresh. I grabbed a slice of homemade apple pie. Though it was served cold, it was tasteful. If you like nutmeg this is the pie for you! I want to come back and try the blueberry! Unit next time....

Sitting on the dock enjoy twin lobster and fried clams. This place is dog friendly but you dog should behave other wise it may bother others. We come here just before close so it's quite. Twin lobster is $21 but you update to three for $27. A pint fried clam is $19. Their clam chowder is the worst I had. Just like boiled clam and potato in milk. It's impossible to make chowder worse than this place. I love clam chowder and I tried New England Chowder from New Orleans all the way along the east coast to Maine. They make an exception on chowder, in a bad way. So skip the chowder and they a lot sea food to offer.

Marginal at best, not as fresh as the lobster dock which we enjoy often but gave it another try. Not busy and view limited.

This place has the most generous and delicious lobster rolls that we have found during our week touring Maine. The deck area is delightful, clean and a great area to watch the harbor activities. If you're lucky enough to meet Todd, the owner, maybe he'll give you a tour of the lobster tanks too. A fabulous lunch and a great lobster education. What could be better? Went back for our second day's lunch since it's such a great place.

This is a no-frills place, with the best lobster we've tasted. The bar provided some good beer, but the most memorable parts were the two lobsters that we ordered. Live in the tank right on the wharf, and freshly plucked out and steamed up just for us. They were wonderfully cooked, and tasted excellent... I had three lobster dinners in the course of 11 days during this trip to the East Coast; one at Legal Seafood in Boston, one at Whale's Tail right on Atlantic Ave... and this was the best of the three (although we also recommend those restaurants). The sides were simply an ear of corn and a potato... eh, they weren't spectacular. The blueberry pie for dessert was spectacular though. Next time it'll be beer, lobster, and pie for me.

Nothing special. Had the lobster roll - just as good as all the others so far on this trip. Large pieces of lobster for sure. Side salad was awkward to eat - easier to treat as a veggie plate and dip the whole pieces of broccoli, baby carrots, large pepper slices etc into the dressing than try to eat with a plastic fork. The rum runner I ordered was potent - yum!! Lots of outdoor seating, nice view.

Those who have ever questioned the incomparable experience of minimalist dining need to visit Boothbay Lobster Wharf. Sitting outdoors at a long picnic table; the salt air and gorgeous seaside views melt away all tensions, yet-- at the same time-- send all senses (but one) into ecstasy. Once the nice folks at the counter announce your order number, and you set a cafeteria tray on your table, the feast begins for your tastebuds, as well. The fantastic fried whole clams and oysters would make an unforgettable meal in their own right. Just as the salt, sea and fishing boats have elevated the senses, the fried seafood sets the stage for amazingly succulent, incredibly juicy and flavorful steamed lobster. It doesn't get any fresher than this, and the setting further elevates spectacular food to the pinnacle of dining enjoyment. Trying to put a monetary value on this experience . . . one which is truly priceless . . . isn't as painful as you might image.

We headed to the Boothbay Lobster Wharf (used to be the co-op) that was recommended by a friend and it was good. We had our 1 1/4 pound lobsters cooked to perfection along with some corn and butter. It was really good. Seating outside and some inside. This place is casual and not upscale but, to us just our kind of place. Good prices for good food. It was our last night in Boothbay but, when we come back I will definitely be back. They also have clams and oysters. They have another area you can order fried clams, lobster rolls and most anything seafood you can think of. They also have ice cream.

Not the best lobster roll I had, and the crab roll was supposedly great but actually lame. But it wasn't the worst lobster roll, either. And Friday was "local night" when cheap domestic beers were A DOLLAR EACH!!!! A DOLLAR FOR A BEER! Do you know what that is to a alcohol-abusing New Yorker? Heaven.

As part of my "Summah Lobstah-thon", I'm making a pilgrimage to as many of Maine's waterside lobster shacks, as I can. I started a year ago, at Five Islands, and need to write that review. Actually, I'll just eat there again and do a new review. So, I'll start here, with this as Chapter 1. It was a beautiful summer night and lobster was on the menu. Having gotten a Transformer Yellow, convertible Camaro, as my business rental car for the week, I was NOT going to waste having the top down on just jetting around Portland. Having the best culinary partner-in-crime with me, we were off to dine AND drive!!! We left the Portland traffic, a little after 5 and quickly were heading up north, with the wind in our hair. After a little over an hour drive, we arrived. We did go up on the summer solstice and expected the place to be packed. We were surprised by the lack of people. A few tourists and some locals. We perused the menu and decided on a game plan. I would have a nice pound and half-er, or Large/Select and my dining mate would opt for..drum roll please...drrrrrrrrrr...2.85 lbs. Yep, my culinary rock star was about to do battle with a Jumbo!! The poor lobster never had a chance. We ordered a few sides; potato salad and corn for me and baked potato for my lobster killin' Transformer buddy! We went and grabbed a few beers and went out and found an empty table next to the water and watched the boats roll by. BTW, the Shipyard Summer, is AWESOME. Our lobsters finally arrived after about 15 minutes. The waitstaff cracked the claws of the Jumbo, with a hammer....yeah.. BIG hammer. We dove in and started breaking the lobsters down. The meat was wonderful, but I would not have expected anything less. The sides were great and I even wished I had more corn. It was obviously fresh picked (oh, did i mention I raised corn, in Illinois, growing up? No, well, i know CORN). The moment finally arrived for the Jumbo to relinquish his tail. The shell was pretty hard and thick, so I did the dirty work. I managed to get the entire this, including the end, tail flipper out in one glorious piece. Muffled, snarfing noises emanated from the other side of my picnic table. I'll take that as a sign the tail ROCKED! We tried both the smaller 1.5 lb and larger Jumbo and couldn't taste any difference in texture, or flavor. Both were great. I'll admit, that I'm new to this lobster thing and maybe missed some subtle taste nuances, but I can say it didn't SUCK. I do know that! I even shared my red coral! The final price was a staggering $75. My dinner was close to $20 and at $15 a pound, the jumbo came in a bit under $45. It definitely wasn't the cheapest lobster dinner I've had, but with the drive up, the cold beer and the view, it was one memorable night. The night was capped with a fantastic ride home in Bumble Bee...sans top and with tight jeans....(mental note to wear spandex running shorts, for chapter 2).

I listened to the other Yelpers and gave this place a shot while on vacation. We loved it! It's really casual...plastic bibs, picnic tables, etc. We had lobster and clams, and it was all great.

Wow, what a wonderful place for lunch. Pick your lobster, add steamers and wait 15 minutes. Then enjoy a delicious lunch fit for...well....anyone!!! Add sitting Oceanside near a real working dock with incoming boats and it doesn't get any better. They also served various seafood that smelled great, but my wife and I stuck with the lobster, and we are glad we did........

My second time here did not disappoint. It's probably the best/cheapest place to have a fresh lobster in Boothbay Harbor without the excessive mayo/butter that's usually mixed with it when you eat a lobster dish. You get a corn on a cob, a bib, shell cracker, and a little thing of butter (so you can use as much or as little of it as you like). It comes out to be about $25 for all of that. The experience is fun because you get to pick the lobster you want from the tank, then they go and cook it for you and call you when it's ready. They have a side shack that sells a variety of other fried seafoods, salads, burgers, soups, etc. in case you're not up for eating an entire lobster.

Great place on a sunny day with awesome views of Boothbay harbor. Since my first visit last year, I've been drawn back again. I love the twin 1lb lobsters with an ear of corn, perfect for two. I ordered some steamers and was not disappointed. The onion rings here are also very good.

  • Reid F.

The Lobster Chowder was the best I've ever had, full of delicious lobster meat. However, the price of non-chicken lobsters to be boiled was $19 per pound, which seemed pretty high for a lobster-pound-style restaurant, so we passed on it.

  • David T.

Fantastic fried seafood platter $18 and Boiled lobster! A little pricey. 2 x 1 lb lobsters with 2 small sides for $24. Got it for $17 a couple days ago at another really good restaurant in Boothbay. Lobsters are really inexpensive to buy right now. Would have paid about $9 total at the local seafood market for both of these. With all that said this is a must go to restaurant on Boothbay!

Came here on a whim today (5/30/15)! Delicious cocktails (had the rum runner, Bloody Mary, and mimosa. Excellent food. (Lobster Roll for me & haddock sandwich for him) . As a self proclaimed lobster roll expert - this is one of the better ones I have had. Not too much mayo and HUGE chunks of lobster ! Only complaint is there was no waitress. Had to go to the bar to order drinks and stand to order food.

3.5 stars. They have separate buildings for take out and for dining in. The prices for dining in are higher obviously. I think that's why this place isn't as great as other places that I've been to in Maine. There isn't much value here. It almost feels like a tourist trap. The lobster prices are higher than other places and the quality is the about the same. They had live music when we went, so maybe that's the reason for charging more than their nearby competitors. I suggested to some friends that they order from the take out spot as the prices were significantly cheaper and they only charge a flat fee to cook the lobsters. Half of my group ordered from the dine-in window and the other half from the take out. We went to all go and sit together, but the half that ordered from the take out were watched like a hawk by the staff there. As they tried to walk over to where we were sitting, they were immediately stopped and told that they can't bring this food to the seating area. So we ended up all going across the street to the parking lot and eating it there. I think it was more fun that way.. a bunch of people squatting over a picnic blanket, eating lobster, with lobster bits and butter sauce flying all over the place. So the experience wasn't bad for us. The lobster roll was disappointing after going to some other places. Not much meat and definitely not much value. The lobster chowder / soup they had was pretty good. I would recommend that. My friends also enjoyed the soft shell lobster. I didn't enjoy the clams - avoid.

$1 oysters on Saturday night, starting at 6pm. We were unsure as what the quality would be like but they were actually really good. Their lobster rolls have a ton of meat and if you are looking for a non-bread option you can get a salad with a big portion of lobster over it. The fried clams are some of the best i've had, big and flavorful. The food is on the expensive side, even considering that all seafood is on the expensive side, but everything is fresh and wonderful. There is both indoor and outdoor seating.

Amazing great time and awesome lobsters and seafood! Very friendly bartender and staff, super view of the harbor. I wouldn't go anywhere else in Booth Bay for a good honest lobster dinner and fun time! Do not confuse this place for the Lobster Dock which is just down the street and in my opinion not nearly as good and more$$$

    (5)
  • Carlos A.

The lobster roll here is awesome. It had more meat than the lobster dinner I had the night before. I loved eating outside too. Do yourself a favor and stop by.

    (5)
  • Lindsay S.

The lobster here was OK (though not nearly as good as Shaws and more expensive) but the clam chowder was the worst we have ever had. It was as though it was made with skim milk. The ambiance was nice and the beer was cheap, but there are much better places in Boothbay Harbor to choose for classic lobster or lobster rolls.

    (2)
  • Ted K.

I want two things when it comes to good seafood: good lobster roll and good fried clams. And for what it's worth, my standards are incredibly high so "good" means exceptional and both lobster rolls and clams (of the fried variety) are not very easy to accomplish at the 5 star level. So the fact that these lobster rolls and clams are not just good but great(!), and that the ambiance is perfect right on the actual wharf, the rest of their menu is exemplary, and that parking is simple, I give them a friendly and well-earned five stars. Wish they had onion rings but whatever.

  • Zachary E.

Lobster was fresh. Taken from the tank and boiled in seawater right at a lobster pound. Here's the big secret, there's a stand selling lobster for $20 plus per pound that is where you will walk up to, then while your waiting you find another spot around the corner with sabe owners where they sell lobster to go for between 7-$10 lb plus $3 steaming charge. Much better deal and you use the same tables.

    (3)
  • David D.

Standard straight up Maine tourist seafood spot. Fresh lobster, boiled, corn on the cob, and a biscuit. Fried haddock sandwich. Cold beer. Surly Ukrainian busboy. Indoor and outdoor seating. $18 for a chick lobster, the $17 lobster roll at Shannon's Unshelled has 50% more meat, and its a lot less messy.

  • Joel S.

Nice outdoor setting. This is my first visit under the new ownership. The set up is exactly the same. Order steamed seafood at one window, everything else at another window. There are a bunch of indoor and outdoor communal tables. The dude at the steamed section was a little bit off his game. We were thinking if getting big lobsters but were a bit put off by the $19 per lb. Small lobsters were the way to go. Instead we opted for fried seafood. The steamers were OK- a bit sandy. The fried clams, scallops and oysters were good. The cole slaw was ok. The macaroni salad was bad. The French fries and onion rings were OK. OK food in a nice setting.

  • Marian H.

This place was amazing, if a bit pricier than other local options. In my group, we had two scallop dinner, a order of fried clams, and two lobsters each with corn on the cob. The fried scallops are AMAZING. they were perfectly cooked. The scallop was not at all rubbery, but juicy and melt in your mouth good. Easily the best fried scallops I've ever tasted. You get two sides if you order the dinner. I had cole slaw and onion rings. Both were excellent. The other scallop dinner had fries and Mac salad. Fries were ok. Mac salad was dry. The lobsters were smallish. But delicious. Definitely a good deal. My advice would be to stick with the small lobsters at this place. Jumbo lobster did not seem to be a great deal. I don't like clams. But I hear that the fried clams were absolutely spectacular. We also had drinks. A frozen mango daiquiri, margarita (not frozen, just regular), and a bud light lime. Frozen daiquiri was good. The margarita was also good but made with sour mix which is not really my preference. The service was good but not great, the establishment was very clean for having mostly outdoor seating, view over the water was excellent and if you're lucky a lobster boat may just pull in while you're there and you'll get to see them sorting out the catch of the day. I definitely recommend Boothbay Lobster Wharf to anyone who loves seafood.

    (4)
  • Carlton S.

Mediocre at best. The oil was old, food overcooked and burnt. Too much batter ans clams clumped together. Fried shrimp were small. The scallops were juicy and tasty. Corn on the cob was good.

My husband and I happened upon this restaurant while touring Boothbay Harbor. We really enjoyed the food and would definitely go back. The atmosphere is no frills. I like how they have indoor and outdoor seating. We both had lobsters and baked potatoes which were delicious. Give it a try if you're in the area.

    (5)
  • Bill G.

It was good. A little weird in that you bought sandwiches at one window, lobsters at another and drinks from a third. I had a 2 1/2 # lobster, while my wife had a lobster roll. We split an order of onion rings which were really good. As I said it was good but for me nothing special.

Had another freak'n phenomenal jumbo lobster roll today! Red's Eats? Please, that place is for armatures. From boat to plate, this place is the balls!

  • KimbalPeudle M.

Sooooo good. We had a big group so ordered a huge variety of food so everyone could try different things. Everything was delicious and the lobster roll was huge and one of the biggest and best I've ever had. The weather was perfect so we ate outside overlooking the wharf, though there is indoor seating as well. The beer selection is great too. They also sell seafood wholesale and you can pick from the variety of live shellfish as well. We really enjoyed the whole experience.

This place is just ok. The chowder was watered down and the lobster and crab cake were fine but not the best I've tasted in Boothbay. The staff was very friendly and patient!

OK. This is "Crustacean Heaven"!!!! If you don't get a 5 pounder your nuts. Food Great! Service Great! Libations Great!! Extras Great! View OMG Great!! It just can't get any better than this folks. The beautiful lady bartender was soooo helpful. 5* for her. When ever I'm in Booth Bay this is where you will find me.

Nice spot to get lobster, fresh oysters and fish chowder. We took the lobsters to go from the retail store 1/2 price :) Enjoy!

Determined to have a lobster roll while in Maine, someone in our group yelped around and found this place and we got the best lobster rolls ever! While on the pricey side, they are worth it. Succulent and tasty fresh lobster meat loaded rolls! For the non-seafood lover, we got a philly cheese steak and he was very happy as was our clam bun eater. We ate outside and it was totally delightful, with great deck views and a breezy bayside ambiance (music piped outdoors was great!). They were very friendly at the place where you order and managed a chip substitution without much ado. Wheelchair accessible but a definite steep roll from the parking lot down to the deck and eating area.

    (5)
  • S R.

Best value for a lobster roll in the area. We split the large and each had 2 times the lobster of other places in town. The deck is great with views of the harbor and the town. The service is efficient (order at the counter and pick it up when its ready. I can't wait to go back.

I am not a fish person so I have the chicken finger plate which came with onion rings and fries. Huge portion and was actually very good. My wife had the steamers which she liked very much. She wanted the lobster but at $20.00 for a 1-1/4 lbs was very high. Other places nearby where 2 for $25.00. Good food just watch the pricing.

Stopped here on the way back to Portland from the Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland. Had read about them in Travel & Leisure Mag. Since they don't open 'til 11, I was able to walk all around and out onto the docks loaded with lobster traps and men getting their rigs ready for the day. What a gorgeous working fishing village. And the Wharf has fantastic outside seating so you can take it all in. When they finally opened, I went over to the prepared foods window and ordered a regular lobster roll (they also have a large) and a fried clam. There is also a window to order whole lobster dinner - there's a room across the way that has large pools of live freshly caught lobsters. The dinners looked fantastic! There's also a separate bar. The lobster roll was the best one I had in my 4 days in Maine. Had a nicely toasted bun stuffed with meat made up entirely of tail, claw and knuckles AND NOT SHREDDED. There was a whole tale in there. They use mayo here, but barely enough to keep the meat from sticking together. And the clams were unreal - barely breaded, piping hot, including all the belly meat. Not cheap, but sometimes you get what you pay for. Considering the quality of the food and the gorgeous setting, I'd go back in a heart beat!

Seen this place on the Lobster Gal's website and had to try it. It did not disappoint, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING LOBSTER ROLLS. They were huge and fresh. Located on a working dock, lobster straight from the water to the steamer, YUMM. I seen claw and tail meat clearly, its nice eating a lobster roll that has whole pieces that you can tell are lobster. The salmon was a little dry, but I added butter to it. Also the view is beautiful, and it wasn't crowded like Red's Eats (and we went on the weekend). We're going back as often as we can, LOVE THIS PLACE :)

outside seating was nice... lobster wharf, lobster dock, lobster deck, fishermans wharf, lobster cove...pick one. you cant really go wrong i guess... twin lobster, corn, fishwiches all as fresh as it gets had the haddock sandwich, fresh fried fish, a cold piece of cheese, onions and lettuce...dry bun...wish it was dressed up a little more not bad...nothing mind blowing

  • Krash T.

As you'd expect from a "lobster in the rough". Nice that they have a bar on the wharf as well as a place where you can get burgers, fried clams etc. The lobster is a completely separate operation. One odd note - if you order steamers, you have to request the liquid that normally goes with them. Otherwise, it was fine; nothing special, but nothing wrong. Warning - there is live music in the evenings, and it can get pretty loud. The band was good though!

    (4)
  • N. L.

This place is gouging the buyer - $32 for twin lobsters is at least 33% more than any other place in Maine - especially for a dock-side place where the lobster comes in from the boats! Go to Reds in Wicasset for a really good, cheap lobster roll!!

    (1)
  • Ryan M.

I get more of a local vibe from this place since it is further away from the touristy area. Like how Pete said, the 3 line system could be confusing, but is amazingly efficient. Friendly people behind all the counters and it was a cool sight when they started loading up lobster off the side of the dock a couple of feet away from the tables, letting you know it is straight from the ocean to their restaurant. The food was great and we had quick service. The girl behind the bar was super friendly and let me know of a couple of local beers and breweries I should try.

It is early summer '08 and I had a crab roll there and a Shipyard Export on tap. Despite Joe R's review from '07, the crab roll was a top 10. Often times meat in a crab roll is already macerated from too much mayo stirring and other handling. The meat had light chunks with mayo gently folded in. Good size roll in proper bun with no lettuce. I went on a Thursday just after Memorial Day, so there were no crowds at lunch time. Beer was 4 bucks for 16 oz, and generous crab roll was $9.95. I liked the place, but will not return on weekends during high season. I had low expectations, since Boothbay is very touristy. I was pleasantly surprised.

Very disappointed. Staff was rude and food was overpriced and not good. $12 for chicken fingers. Go elsewhere!!

We got married over Memorial Day Weekend in Boothbay Harbor. The wedding was down the street at the Spruce Point Inn, so we wanted to select a very New England experience for our guests at the rehearsal dinner (we had people from all over the country). As a result, we chose the Boothbay Lobster Wharf for our event. Todd the owner and his team (wife and daughter included) put together an incredible lobster bake for about 50 guests. The food was wonderful. The room was beautiful. The people working there couldn't have been nicer. The whole event was absolutely perfect. The unexpected bonus was the guy downstairs shucking oysters for $1 that many said they're the best they've ever had.

This is where you go for a true Maine lobster. I came here with a group of around 10 and we stayed so long we actually all ate two meals. The group was all from MI and IL so we don't get this sort of thing all the time. The food was great, we almost all had some variation of Lobster. Later we had fresh oysters and clams. Everything was perfect.

Its pretty awkward to walk into a place and have to choose from 3 different lines, depending on what you want - however, its amazingly efficient once you wrap your head around the concept. Fried/regular food straight ahead, amazingly fresh lobster and shellfish to the right, and beer behind you. Sure, its 3 places, but the lobster line FLIES - so place that order. Then wait in line to order your fried goodies and swing through the beer shack as you head back to your table. Just a few minutes later your name will be called with your lobster/clam/mussels order. It works out really well, once you realize how to get around. I have never stood at a counter and watched fresh lobsters being added to the tank, straight off of a boat - and then ordering a couple of them to consume myself.. and then watching them get placed into the giant steamer immediately after. Talk about FRESH - and you can tell when you eat these ones - there's almost no need for butter. Of course - who can pass up melted butter? Yes, I started dipping fries into it just to use it. My only complaint, but I cannot blame the BLW/Co-op for this, is that tourist boat that arrived just before dinner. We were in early enough to miss the rush, but you could see the boat pulling in.. and the stress in the employees faces as they saw the crowd of hungry people heading up the dock like cattle. Cattle who want piles of delicious lobsters, that is. So make sure you arrive either before, or after, the big tour boat arrives. You will have trouble finding a seat and won't want to wait in the line that forms.

Dog friendly :) lobster roll was overflowing with great pieces of meat, crab cake roll was great, very fresh. Clam chowder was delicious. Good beer selection and laid back atmosphere, picnics tables overlook the harbor... But totally self serve, like lobster McDonalds but obviously way above due to the great food

A fairly standard Maine waterfront lobster joint. This is not meant negatively since these establishments are what Maine is all about, not "fine dining". Some things that are different from the usual: It has a full bar is which is not typical of these places (usually wine & beer), has steamed mussels - cheap, has good selection of fried veggies Has more than the usual annoying multiple window ordering for different things - how tourists from Iowa figure these places out is beyond me. On the expensive side for lobster (but look where it is). Fabulous view. Plenty of boat-in docking. It's a bit of a (very pleasant) walk from the center of town, which cuts down on the crowd somewhat, but it seems to be on the tour bus route and if you have the bad luck to come in after a bus just unloaded, it can be a zoo. Note to bus charter companies - yeah ordering at these places is a little weird, not to mention unfamiliar cuisine to many people, why don;t you take some time ON THE WAY to explain it all to the tour group before you let them loose on the wharf and total confusion.

As a tourist this place was a must it was located within walking distance from our hotel and provided a beautiful view of the harbor (a great photo-op). I had 2 soft-shelled lobsters for $25.00 and the meat was very sweet and delicious. I was taking so many photos that the owner came over and gave my family and I a private tour of his Wharf.

A BIT PRICEY!!! If you want to sit at their picnic benches and eat your food it cost double the price than if you got a larger lobster steamed and to go. The lobster and corn is pretty good though. You order at a window and they call your number when your food is ready.

Terrible chowder, very little fish. HEAVILY overpriced!! Sandwiches are tiny but decent tasting. Scenario is good but all places in area are. Worst part of our trip to Maine.. I strongly feel there are better sea food restaurants in the locality.

If you are looking for a fine dining experience, this is not it. If you are looking for the freshest in real Maine seafood right off the boat, go no further. Wear your casual clothes, bring a slicker if it lloks like rain, or plan to eat inside. But the best part about it is eating on the picnic tables right ON the water. Seafood, steamers, corn, steamed while you wait. Try a pitcher of mud slides for $6, share it around the table. No more authentic Maine seafood experience to be had.

What another great harbor restaurant with views and great food!! I may have to move here part time. Fun place. You walk to and order from two different windows depending on what you want...go to window number 3 for a beer. Wander to find a table. Now your set. Lobster thumbs up, mussels thumbs down. I didn't think you could mess up steaming mussels. Over cooked. But the overall vibe and experience makes this a must visit.

Been visiting Maine and Boothbay Harbor for years. Formerly the Lobsterman's Coop, the Boothbay Lobster Wharf is the vision of the perfect Maine Lobster eating experience in every way. The lobster boats circle traps right in front of the place and off load lobsters before your eyes. You walk down a staircase and walk straight to a row of tanks and steamers. Pick your lobster and POW!, 5 minutes later, you are cracking lobster shells and drinking cold beer from a pitcher overlooking a harbor full of lobster boats, sailboats, and cruisers. Spent a week in Boothbay Harbor last summer and hit the Lobster Wharf 4 times. My arteries finally screamed uncle and I had to stop.

Good food. We'd had a fair bit of Lobster at this point so we opted for a few other options. I had the blackened salmon sandwich. It was nice and dark, but not over charred (just the way it should be). The harbor wasn't very active while we were there, but the view was still quite nice.

in 1973 my girlfriend and I were in Me in October, and didn't know a thing about the town but somehow wound up here for breakfast. We had freshly steamed lobsters and a loaf of french bread with a bottle of beaujolais on the hood of our car. At the time, a "cull" lobster (only one big claw) cost a dollar each. We ate about half a dozen. Still great here, even if it's pricier - everything else is, so why should these lobstermen not join in. Lots of good memories here for me.

For lobstah, steamed clams and chowdah this place can't be beat. I have been spending summers on the coast of Maine all my life and this place epitomizes what a lobster wharf is all about. The lobster rolls are heaven despite joe r's opinion. These are what a lobster roll should be. I love to stop by here if the Fall when the season has slowed down and enjoy lobster and clams overlooking the harbour. Don't forget to order some chowder!

I really enjoyed eating at the Lobster Wharf. It is simple and tasty! I All I ordered was a single lobster and ear of corn. The Lobster was decently priced and was amazing! So if you are looking for a casual place to go with your family and enjoy a lobster or two or three this is the place to go!

We saw Boothbay Lobster Wharf from our room at Brown's Wharf Inn & checked it out on Yelp. We dropped in at about 6pm on a Saturday evening and it was a bit daunting at first as you need to assess your needs, options and priorities. We decided to divide & conquer. My wife went to the lobster ordering area (there are no waiters) and I waited on the bar line for beer. She quickly placed our order for three 1 lb soft shell lobsters, an ear of corn and coleslaw for $39.95. She then waited on the "buck a shuck" oyster line for 15 minutes to order a dozen (she received 13!) I bought a pitcher of Narragansett Lager for $14 after a 15-20 minute wait. I secured an indoor table (outside tables were taken & it was a bit hot for our taste) and planted our beer to stake our place. Judy returned with the first round of oysters & our name was called for our lobster order seconds later. We collected them & started to feast. The oysters were local & briny. The lobster was delicious, the corn sweet, the coleslaw satisfactory and the beer cold. There was a live band that played southern covers and were actually pretty good. I bought another 1/2 dozen oysters since I still had room & they were tasty and the best deal in the place. We found the restaurant to be fun & the food good. The seafood dinner menu was quite pricey (fried shrimp/fish/clams/oysters etc). Our lobster deal was a touch more than what we've experienced. Once we assessed the situation our experience was good. We'd spent about $80 all in & enjoyed our meal, the view and live music. I'd recommend it.

It's good, but not the very best, IMO. I had the fried haddock. It wasn't as good as Becky's in Portland. If you go, I think I'd recommend the lobster roll. The friend who got that raved about it.

I came here on a beautiful evening, so it was absolutely chaotic. I had to wait an hour and a half for my food. Waiting for a table took thirty minutes or so. The portions were much bigger than expected - probably the biggest I have ever gotten at a seafood restaurant. Disappointingly, my fried shrimp was really fishy tasting. The batter nearly melted off and the shrimp was not solid. It was mushy and did not taste that cooked. I thought the food was not worth waiting for. Though "cheap" with big portions, I thought it the quality was a little below average. Perhaps it was an off night since it was so busy.

It was good. A little weird in that you bought sandwiches at one window, lobsters at another and drinks from a third. I had a 2 1/2 # lobster, while my wife had a lobster roll. We split an order of onion rings which were really good. As I said it was good but for me nothing special.

Heaven.

What another great harbor restaurant with views and great food!! I may have to move here part time. Fun place.

Very cool, I phone called in my lobster , done in 15 minuets, I stayed close so I went back to my room to eat it.

Terrific food for good price - this place isn't fancy, but it's real. Best lobster I've had all summer.

This place is gouging the buyer - $32 for twin lobsters is at least 33% more than any other place in Maine - especially for a dock-side place where the lobster comes in from the boats! Go to Reds in Wicasset for a really good, cheap lobster roll!!

    (1)
  • Allison G.

Very disappointed. Staff was rude and food was overpriced and not good. $12 for chicken fingers. Go elsewhere!!

Great place on a sunny day with awesome views of Boothbay harbor. Since my first visit last year, I've been drawn back again. I love the twin 1lb lobsters with an ear of corn, perfect for two. I ordered some steamers and was not disappointed. The onion rings here are also very good.

    (4)
  • Denise M.

I really enjoyed eating at the Lobster Wharf. It is simple and tasty! I All I ordered was a single lobster and ear of corn. The Lobster was decently priced and was amazing! So if you are looking for a casual place to go with your family and enjoy a lobster or two or three this is the place to go!

in 1973 my girlfriend and I were in Me in October, and didn't know a thing about the town but somehow wound up here for breakfast.

Heaven.

  • Cindy H.

OK. This is "Crustacean Heaven"!!!! If you don't get a 5 pounder your nuts. Food Great! Service Great! Libations Great!! Extras Great! View OMG Great!!

The lobster roll here is awesome. It had more meat than the lobster dinner I had the night before. I loved eating outside too. Do yourself a favor and stop by.

Mediocre at best. The oil was old, food overcooked and burnt. Too much batter ans clams clumped together. Fried shrimp were small. The scallops were juicy and tasty. Corn on the cob was good.

    (2)
  • Bill G.

It was good. A little weird in that you bought sandwiches at one window, lobsters at another and drinks from a third. I had a 2 1/2 # lobster, while my wife had a lobster roll. We split an order of onion rings which were really good. As I said it was good but for me nothing special.

  • N. L.

This place is gouging the buyer - $32 for twin lobsters is at least 33% more than any other place in Maine - especially for a dock-side place where the lobster comes in from the boats! Go to Reds in Wicasset for a really good, cheap lobster roll!!

Very disappointed. Staff was rude and food was overpriced and not good. $12 for chicken fingers. Go elsewhere!!

  • Denise M.

  • Raj B.

  • Johnny U.

Dog friendly :) lobster roll was overflowing with great pieces of meat, crab cake roll was great, very fresh. Clam chowder was delicious.
